Kebon Kosong Sub-district intensifies campaign against street vending on pavements

The Kebon Kosong Sub-district, located in the Kemayoran District of Central Jakarta, is intensifying socialisation efforts regarding the prohibition of trading and placing goods on pavements, as well as on social and public facilities (fasos-fasum), to restore their functionality for the public.

The Head of Kebon Kosong, Sunardi, stated that the campaign is being conducted by installing banners containing appeals and prohibitions at several locations, including Jalan Haji Ung, Bendungan Jago, and the West Kalibaru area in RW 01 and RW 02.

“We are installing banners containing appeals and prohibitions against trading, placing goods, and conducting other activities that may disrupt the function of social and public facilities,” Sunardi said in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday.

Sunardi noted that the installation of these banners is being carried out alongside personnel from the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) and the Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling Officers (PPSU) as an effort to increase public awareness to prevent the use of pavements and public facilities for private interests.

In addition to installing banners, officers are also urging residents who are still trading or stockpiling goods on pavements and public facilities to immediately clear these locations.

“Alhamdulillah, residents who have been using public facilities on pavements for trading or stockpiling scrap goods have immediately cleared them,” he added.

Sunardi further stated that similar socialisation efforts will continue on other road segments within the Kebon Kosong area to ensure that pavements and public facilities can be utilised as intended. He also invited the community to work together to maintain order and environmental cleanliness by using public facilities according to their designated purposes.
