KDS: PKK Cadres Are the Vanguard Driving Development in Bandung Regency
Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna has affirmed the strategic role of cadres of the Family Welfare and Empowerment Programme (PKK) as the vanguard supporting development and improving community welfare in Bandung Regency.
The regent, familiarly known as KDS, made the remarks while attending the 2026 Bandung Regency PKK Cadre Jamboree at Sulaiman Airbase Field on Tuesday (15/9/2026).
KDS expressed appreciation to the Bandung Regency PKK Mobilisation Team for organising the fourth PKK Cadre Jamboree as a platform to strengthen solidarity, capacity and the spirit of service among cadres.
“The role of PKK is truly remarkable. I have been greatly helped by the presence of PKK cadres. My thanks go to all PKK chairs and cadres who have contributed to the development of Bandung Regency,” said KDS.
According to him, the contribution of PKK cadres supports various regional development achievements, including efforts to reduce poverty rates and drive economic growth among communities.
KDS considers PKK cadres to hold a strategic position because they interact directly with families and communities at the grassroots level. Through this network, cadres are seen as capable of driving various government programmes while serving as the government’s eyes and ears on the ground.
“PKK cadres are the vanguard. Their role is vital because they deal directly with communities and families,” he said.
On the occasion, KDS also conveyed the Bandung Regency Government’s commitment to protecting PKK cadres, including through BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (employment social security) enrolment, which continues to be rolled out for cadres across the regency.
In addition, KDS prepared a number of support measures for cadres, including five umrah packages and assistance for 20 uninhabitable homes (Rutilahu).
KDS also urged PKK cadres to raise environmental awareness, particularly given drought conditions that have heightened fire risk in Bandung Regency.
According to the Bandung Regency Fire and Rescue Service, 324 fire hotspots had been recorded as of Tuesday (15/9/2026). KDS reminded the public, including PKK cadres, to remain vigilant and avoid actions that could trigger fires.
“I ask for the help of PKK cadres: do not carelessly discard cigarette butts in dry places. The current conditions are highly prone to fires,” he stressed.
Beyond encouraging cadres to be more alert to disasters, KDS also pushed for greater solidarity between cadres when fellow PKK members suffer misfortune.
He noted that several PKK cadres in parts of Bandung Regency had fallen victim to fires, including in the districts of Kutawaringin, Arjasari and Pacet.
KDS said the Bandung Regency Government, together with the Bandung Regency Baznas (religious alms agency), had provided assistance to residents affected by fires, including home repair aid. He also instructed the Community and Village Empowerment Office (DPMD) to facilitate coordination of assistance from PKK cadres at district level for fellow cadres affected by disasters.
“Let us pray that the PKK cadres affected by these calamities are granted patience. For those who wish to help, please start with the PKK cadres in their respective districts. I ask the head of the Community Empowerment Office to facilitate this,” he said.
KDS also personally presented an umrah package to Aidah, a PKK cadre from Mekarsaluyu Village in Cimenyan District, as one of the prize recipients at the Jamboree.
KDS expressed hope that the PKK Cadre Jamboree would not only serve as an occasion for fellowship and appreciation, but would further strengthen cadres’ resolve to remain present and bring benefit to their communities.
