KDMP Construction Cost Almost Rp 3 Million per Metre, What Facilities Are Included?
The government is pursuing large-scale KDMP construction across Indonesia. The program, an initiative of President Prabowo Subianto, targets 80,000 units, one cooperative in every village and urban village. KDMP is designed as a village economy hub integrating multiple functions in one complex, including a food kiosk, savings-and-loan services, a pharmacy, a clinic, logistics, and warehousing. Although funding comes from loans from state-owned banks (Himbara) with repayments made through village funds, the physical construction of KDMP stores is carried out by PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara in collaboration with the Indonesian Army (TNI AD). Joao Angelo De Sousa Mota, Chief Executive of Agrinas, previously disclosed that constructing the KDMP stores and warehouses is estimated to cost around Rp 1.658 billion per unit. When calculated on the basis of a standard building area, construction costs amount to about Rp 2.938 million per square metre. “Roughly speaking, the design or layout prepared for the Desa Merah Putih Cooperative; the building’s area is 20 by 30 metres,” Joao said during a hearings with Commission VI of the DPR RI, quoted on Tuesday (19 May 2026). Of the total building area, part is allocated to a cooperative store measuring 6 by 17 metres. Within the store area, there is also a village clinic room measuring about 3.5 by 10 metres. In addition, the KDMP includes a fertiliser warehouse of 4 by 6 metres, separate from the warehouse used for staple daily necessities. Overall, the KDMP building concept is designed to be multifunctional as a centre for village economic activity. The design and standards for KDMP buildings have also been set by the government through the Minister of Public Works Decree No. 1342/KPTS/M/2025 on the Prototype Design for the KDMP Building. Through this prototype concept, the government does not apply completely uniform building sizes across Indonesia.
