KDM: Wedding Party Funds Better Spent on Buying a House Than Being King for a Night and Suffering Tomorrow
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has urged Gen Z not to force themselves into holding expensive wedding parties. He believes that the money would be better used to buy a house. “My message is, it’s better to use the money for the wedding party to buy a house. Rather than being king for a night and suffering the next day,” he said at the Balai Nusantara Hunian Warisan Bangsa in Purwakarta on Tuesday night (14/4/2026). He even stated that he would issue a circular so that people do not need to force themselves to hold lavish wedding parties if they lack the funds. “Later, the governor will issue the circular, for those who do not have sufficient financial capacity, they don’t need to have a party for the marriage, just get married at the KUA,” said KDM, the governor’s familiar nickname. He also believes that it is no problem if one can only afford a subsidised house at an affordable price with cheap instalments. After buying, the house must be well maintained. KDM added that for low-income residents, there are several schemes that can be followed to own a house, such as subsidised houses, house renovations, and cheap apartments. “There is assistance for uninhabitable houses. The methodology includes proposals through DPR aspirations, and people can also access it directly through a special application that will be created in West Java,” he said. The public can access people’s business credit (KUR) for housing with low interest rates for subsidised houses to flats or apartments. “There are apartments in Bekasi, later in Depok, in Bogor, and we will also build in Bandung. Well, including the West Java Provincial Government, Mr Secretary General, prepare the Governor’s Regulation soon, every industrial zone is obliged to provide apartments for employees,” he explained.
