KDM to Build Dam to Prevent Floods in Bandung Regency

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG – West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi is furious about the handling of flooding in Bandung Regency, which continues to revolve around mere discussions. He has already spoken with Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna to inquire about empty land that can be used to build a dam. “Just now I spoke to the Regent of Bandung. If we keep talking about concepts, concepts, flooding in Bandung, concepts, concepts, it will never be resolved,” he said recently. Dedi stated that the solution to tackling flooding in Bandung Regency is to build a dam. He has already asked the Bandung Regent about empty land that can be used to construct the dam. “The solution is a dam, that’s it. I asked the Regent, does the Regent have the land?” he said. He added that if the land is available, construction will be carried out in stages. As is known, flooding is a regular occurrence in Bandung Regency, especially in the Baleendah, Bojongsoang, and Dayeuhkolot sub-districts. Floods are often triggered by the overflow of Citarum River water due to heavy rain. Tens of thousands of residents are frequently affected. Access roads in alleys and main roads are often inundated with floods, causing vehicles to be unable to pass. Other impacts include disruptions to economic activities for some communities, even forcing shops to close due to flooding.
