KDM Reminds Kuningan Tourism Development Must Not Sacrifice Mount Ciremai's Preservation
The Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, has highlighted the importance of development in the Kuningan Regency region being oriented towards environmental quality, spatial planning, cleanliness, and public services, particularly as the area is home to Mount Ciremai.
The Governor, affectionately known as KDM, also reminded that the development of tourism in Kuningan must not sacrifice the preservation of Mount Ciremai. He expressed the vital importance of maintaining the highest mountain in West Java.
“Tourism development must not damage Ciremai,” KDM asserted while attending the Kuningan Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Plenary Session in commemoration of Kuningan’s 528th Anniversary, held at the Kuningan DPRD Secretariat Building on Tuesday (1/9/202<0xA0>26).
KDM urged that the economic potential of local communities be developed through product innovation, branding, packaging, and the strengthening of community-based tourism destinations. He cited examples such as the development of Kuningan’s signature products, including coffee, peuyeum (fermented cassava), and jeniper (lime juice), to ensure they possess a stronger packaging identity and are capable of increasing their economic value.
The former Regent of Purwakarta also expressed his commitment to continuously driving the improvement of regency road quality through collaborative financing between the regency and provincial governments. He emphasised that infrastructure development must provide tangible benefits to the community, even in the most remote villages.
He requested that road infrastructure development should not focus solely on paving. Instead, it must also take into account drainage, street lighting, CCTV, and environmental cleanliness.
