KDM Pays Bandung Zoo Employees' Salary Arrears for Two Months at Once
Bandung – Bandung Zoo employees can now smile again. Their salaries for two months have been paid in full by the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi.
The payment exceeds the initial promise, which was only to cover one month’s salary arrears. The Governor, affectionately known as KDM, admitted that he did not fulfil his original promise. However, according to him, this “breaking” of the promise actually yields better results for the zoo employees.
“Today, my promise is not kept, but broken. I apologise for not being able to fulfil the promise,” said KDM on Friday (3/4/2026).
The former Purwakarta Regent once again expressed his apologies to the employees. He hopes that the payment of two months’ salaries at once can bring greater peace of mind to the workers and their families.
“I apologise for breaking the promise I made. Hopefully, with the promise broken, their wives and children can smile widely,” he said.
In the video, KDM also appeared to joke with the Bandung Zoo employees. The workers were seen welcoming the news with joyful faces and smiles upon hearing the announcement of the salary payment from the number one person in West Java.
KDM added that the salary payment is expected to alleviate the burden on the employees who previously experienced payment delays.
Previously, KDM assured that the issues plaguing Bandung Zoo are nearly resolved. He stated that around 90 percent of the problems have been settled, particularly those related to worker welfare and the zoo’s daily operations.
“The problems are already 90 percent solved. The remaining issues are regarding management and ownership,” said KDM.
