KDM Orders Officials to Eradicate Illegal Drug Distribution
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has stressed that the circulation of certain hard drugs (OKT) should be easy to eliminate because law enforcement officers are already stationed in every area. “Tramadol is actually easy to eradicate. In every village and sub-district there are Babinsa and Bhabinkamtib, there are district and regional police. And the Regional Police Chief already has a very strong commitment to eradicating it,” Dedi said when met in Cimahi on Tuesday.
The man known as KDM urged law enforcement to immediately take action against places suspected of being distribution points for hard drugs. He also praised the Bandung Police for successfully uncovering a case involving one million pills as evidence. According to him, this success should serve as an example for other police jurisdictions in West Java. “The Bandung Police have collected 1 million pills, so other police forces must follow suit,” he stated.
KDM declared that the eradication of hard drugs and narcotics must be a serious concern for all regional governments in West Java. He stressed that the government must not be afraid of any parties that might be backing the illegal trade, including unscrupulous community organisations or NGOs. “Regarding backing, whoever it is, the state must never lose to such things. Just wipe them out,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, Cimahi Mayor Ngatiyana expressed concern and embarrassment that the circulation of hard drugs and street crime still occur in his area. “It’s embarrassing, Cimahi is supposed to be a military city but muggings and hard drug distribution are still rampant. That’s why we will focus on cleaning it up,” Ngatiyana said. As a countermeasure, the Cimahi City Government will reactivate the Thuggery Task Force to suppress crime rates while eradicating the distribution of hard drugs and narcotics. “We will revive the Thuggery Task Force, taking firm and decisive action against perpetrators. Then we will resolve the issue of hard drugs and narcotics because they are triggers for crime,” he added.
