KDM instructs repairs to Gasibu pavements to ensure disability accessibility

The Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, has instructed technical repairs to the pavements around Gasibu Field to ensure they are more friendly to pedestrians and people with disabilities, following public complaints regarding the excessive height of the pavements.

This physical evaluation focuses on the Gasibu pavements located directly opposite the West Java People’s Struggle Monument in Bandung. Speaking in Bandung on Tuesday, the Governor noted that the current height of the pavements makes access difficult for citizens.

KDM, as the Governor is commonly known, stated that he has ordered the West Java Department of Highways and Spatial Planning to immediately construct tiered steps to facilitate easier access for the public.

“This way, there will be steps to ascend the pavement, rather than a direct transition from the main road to the pavement,” said KDM.

Dedi Mulyadi emphasised that these pavement improvements aim to restore the absolute function of pedestrian facilities for walkers, while also ensuring the area is cleared of unauthorised encroachments.

“Pavements are not for traders, motorcyclists, or cyclists,” Dedi Mulyadi asserted.

The repair of pavement facilities and the fulfilment of pedestrian rights align with the West Java Provincial Government’s broader efforts to reorganise the Gasibu area, aiming to provide a safe, comfortable, and inclusive public space for all segments of society.
