KDM Instructs Distance Learning for West Java Schools Affected by Anak Krakatau Volcanic Ash
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has instructed headteachers to implement distance learning (PJJ) for schools heavily affected by volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau. He cited the regions of Sukabumi and Bogor as examples of areas experiencing high levels of volcanic ash.
“Headteachers, starting from Monday 7 September 2026, may take the decision to implement an online learning system from their respective homes,” he said on Sunday (6/9/2026).
The governor, popularly known as KDM, stated that Bogor, Sukabumi and other areas affected by high levels of volcanic ash may conduct distance learning. KDM noted that headteachers may make decisions based on their assessment of conditions on the ground.
“Hopefully we can all carry out our activities as usual while taking health and safety into consideration,” said the former Purwakarta regent.
