KDM Forms Investigation Team into Alleged Sexual Harassment by Sumedang Deputy Regent

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has formed an investigation team to look into the alleged abuse and harassment case involving Sumedang Deputy Regent Fajar Aldila.

“The West Java Provincial Government today formed an investigation team to examine the Sumedang Deputy Regent so that the incident can be presented objectively,” said Dedi, often known as KDM, via his Instagram account @dedimulyadi71 on Friday (28/8).

KDM urged all parties to be patient while awaiting the results of the investigation team’s examination.

“Therefore, I ask all parties to be patient before we deliver our findings and not to offer opinions or narratives beforehand,” he said.

Previously, allegations emerged of harassment, physical abuse, and unlawful confinement against the personal secretary of the Sumedang Deputy Regent. The case allegedly implicates the Deputy Regent, his wife, his cousin who is a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, and his aide.

The information initially circulated through social media and chain WhatsApp messages.

According to reports from several media outlets, the incident occurred on Monday (17/8) in the afternoon when the victim was ordered to handle operational funds at the Deputy Regent’s official residence.

There, the Deputy Regent allegedly hugged and kissed the victim without consent and made flirtatious remarks towards the victim. The victim then immediately rejected the advances and left the location.

That evening, the victim was summoned again by the Deputy Regent’s wife, whose initials are ADO. During that meeting, the victim allegedly suffered physical abuse at the hands of several people in turn.

The allegations have been denied by the Sumedang Deputy Regent. He considers the issue to have originated from non-credible sources and not to have undergone adequate verification.

In several media outlets, denials have also emerged from the party identified as the victim in this case. In the denial, the alleged victim asserted that no such incident as reported ever took place.
