West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has stressed the importance of cooperation between the West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jabar) and the Bandung City Government (Pemkot Bandung) in addressing various urban issues, to restore Bandung’s charisma as the provincial capital.

The man familiarly known as Kang Dedi Mulyadi (KDM) stated that city improvement efforts cannot proceed in isolation but must be carried out collaboratively, involving the provincial government, city government, and the community.

“Thank you to the civil servants of Pemprov Jabar and Bandung City who continue to work together to clean their respective environments. At minimum, one kilometre leading to the office must be in a clean, orderly, beautiful, and aesthetically pleasing condition,” he said in a written statement on Wednesday (24/4/2026).

He also appreciated the community’s involvement in reviving the face of Bandung City. According to him, this collaboration forms a crucial foundation for restoring Bandung’s character as a dignified, modern city oriented towards the future.

Nevertheless, Dedi emphasised that several critical issues still need to be addressed jointly, particularly the piles of rubbish still accumulating at various points.

“We must ensure there are no more rubbish piles in the city’s corners. This must be handled together,” he said.

In this context, Pemprov Jabar and Pemkot Bandung will optimise the role of the Sarimukti Final Disposal Site (TPA) and promote its development into an energy-based waste processing facility.

In addition to waste management, the collaboration is also directed towards strengthening basic urban infrastructure. Dedi stressed the importance of optimising public street lighting (PJU), integrating CCTV systems, and improving drainage to prevent flooding.

“PJU must not have any dead spots. Everything must be lit. CCTV must also be well integrated between the province and the city,” he asserted.

Addressing traffic congestion is also part of the joint agenda. Pemprov Jabar is pushing for the development of integrated public transport in the Greater Bandung area, including infrastructure such as underpasses and flyovers.

Furthermore, traffic light systems will be directed to use adaptive digital technology based on on-site vehicle volumes.

“Traffic lights must be able to adjust to vehicle conditions, making them more effective in reducing congestion,” he said.

Dedi affirmed that this collaboration not only targets technical aspects but also the overall city beautification to make it neater and more attractive, especially as a flagship tourist destination.

He also appreciated the synergy that has been ongoing between Pemprov Jabar and Pemkot Bandung in improving the city.

“Thank you to the Mayor of Bandung who every day works hand-in-hand with Pemprov Jabar to restore the charisma, dignity, and elegance of Bandung City,” he concluded.
