The vehicle-free condition of Jalan Diponegoro integrates the Sate Building and Gasibu. “The unification of Gasibu and the Sate Building into one unit is possible because it is no longer traversed by public vehicles,” stated KDM in a written statement on Monday (11/5/2026). To enhance the aesthetics and quality of the road as a public space, the material of Jalan Diponegoro will be changed from asphalt to andesite stone, similar to Jalan Braga. “Essentially, the original asphalt will be replaced with stone, like in Braga,” said KDM. KDM assured that after the unification of the Sate Building-Jalan Diponegoro-Gasibu, public activities can proceed more freely and smoothly. Previously, public activities such as expressing aspirations in front of the Sate Building often disrupted traffic because Jalan Diponegoro had to be closed, leading to congestion. Such conditions will not occur after the Sate Building courtyard redevelopment. The public can still engage in activities on the grounds of this West Java government building without vehicle obstructions. Meanwhile, landscape architect and Chair of the Indonesian Landscape Architects Association for the 2022-2025 period, Dian Heri, welcomes the unification of the Sate Building-Jalan Diponegoro-Gasibu. According to Dian, this unification ensures that movement from Gasibu to the Sate Building or vice versa does not interfere with motorised vehicles. However, given the significant changes, anticipation of traffic movement impacts is necessary. Dian hopes that the unification of the Sate Building and Gasibu is socialised so that the public receives sufficient information.
