KDM and Minister of PKP Inaugurate 40,000-Home Renovation Programme in West Java
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi (KDM) and Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, have inaugurated the start of a house renovation programme in West Java. The programme, which forms part of President Prabowo Subianto’s initiative, was symbolically marked by the renovation of 10 homes in Kampung Kiaraeunyeuh, Desa Banyusari, Kecamatan Katapang, Kabupaten Bandung. “With this, I inaugurate the start of the renovation of 40,000 homes in West Java with assistance from the Ministry of PKP’s house renovation programme,” said KDM in a written statement on Friday (17/4/2026). The statement was delivered at the home of one of the beneficiaries, Ibu Lis Mulyani, on Monday (13/4). Furthermore, KDM also directly inspected the condition of a resident’s home whose daily work is as a seamstress. “From the Minister of PKP, Rp20 million, God willing, from me there will be an additional Rp20 million. To add capital for her sewing business,” he said. Sumiati expressed her gratitude to KDM and Minister of PKP, Maruarar Sirait, for helping to renovate her home and even providing business capital assistance. “Thank you, may it become a blessed act of worship for Mr KDM and Mr Minister,” said Sumiati. House Renovation Uses People’s Tender, Local SMEs Involved The house renovation programme targets beneficiaries with a goal of 10 unfit homes in each village across Indonesia. Maruarar Sirait mentioned that this year the government targets the renovation of 400,000 unfit homes. Of that number, West Java receives the largest allocation, nearly 40,000 units. Each home receives renovation assistance of Rp20 million, used for purchasing building materials and labour costs. In its implementation, the programme involves local communities and SMEs through the people’s tender mechanism of BSPS (Bantuan Stimulan Perumahan Swadaya). Through this scheme, the procurement of building materials is carried out transparently and competitively. As many as 10 beneficiaries will form a group, then invite three nearby SME building material shops to offer the best prices. For example, in Desa Banyusari, from a total budget of Rp175 million for 10 homes, through the people’s tender mechanism, the winning SME was able to complete the construction for Rp164 million. Meanwhile, the labour cost for 10 homes reaches Rp25 million. The remaining budget from this efficiency can be reused to add to the needs of building materials. Maruarar assessed that this programme not only improves housing quality but also has the potential to drive economic turnover in the area and bring justice to low-income communities. Meanwhile, Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna mentioned that the BSPS programme allocation in his region targets 966 unfit homes spread across 63 villages in 23 sub-districts.
