KCIC Warns of Whoosh Ticket Scams via WhatsApp
PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) has urged the public to be vigilant against various fraud schemes misusing the name of the Whoosh high-speed train service through WhatsApp, particularly those offering ticket purchases or travel services from unofficial numbers.
General Manager Corporate Secretary KCIC Eva Chairunisa stated that perpetrators often use the company’s name, logo, and travel schedules to convince victims that the service is legitimate. “We urge the public not only to look at the logo, name, or schedule provided, but to always ensure the number contacted and the transaction channel used are official Whoosh channels,” Eva said in a statement received in Bandung on Wednesday.
KCIC emphasised that it never directs payments to personal bank accounts. Official Whoosh tickets can only be purchased through the Whoosh application, the website ticket.kcic.co.id, ticket counters and vending machines at Whoosh stations, Access by KAI, Livin’ by Mandiri, wondr by BNI, Tiket.com, Traveloka, and Trip.com. The Whoosh Contact Center at 0811-8888-111 is available for information, criticism, suggestions, complaints, group bookings, and travel vouchers.
Eva also advised the public to be wary of suspicious links or documents sent via numbers claiming to represent Whoosh. “If you find indications of fraud, immediately stop communication and transactions, save the evidence of the conversation, block the number, and report it to the relevant platform and the Whoosh Contact Center,” she added.
