PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) has urged the public to be vigilant against various fraudulent schemes using the name of the Whoosh high-speed train service through the WhatsApp messaging application. The company warned that perpetrators often use the Whoosh name, logo, and travel schedules to convince victims that the offers are from official sources. KCIC stressed that it never directs customers to make ticket payments to personal bank accounts or through unofficial WhatsApp numbers. According to the company, one common modus operandi begins with advertisements on social media that direct potential victims to contact a specific WhatsApp number. The perpetrator then provides travel schedule information resembling the official service, requests personal data, and instructs payment to a personal account. KCIC reiterated that tickets can only be purchased through official sales channels, including the Whoosh app, the ticket.kcic.co.id website, ticket vending machines at stations, and authorised partners such as Access by KAI, Livin’ by Mandiri, wondr by BNI, Tiket.com, and Traveloka. The company also advised the public to be cautious of suspicious links or documents sent via unofficial numbers. Anyone encountering indications of fraud is urged to immediately cease communication and transactions, save evidence of the conversation, block the number, and report the incident to the relevant platform and the Whoosh Contact Centre at 0811-8888-111.
