KCIC projects Whoosh passengers to exceed 20,000 on Friday
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) projects that the number of Whoosh high-speed train passengers on Friday (27/3) could exceed 20,000 people ahead of the 2026 Lebaran return flow.
General Manager of Corporate Secretary at KCIC, Eva Chairunisa, stated that this high figure reflects the still dense mobility of the public, both from Jakarta to Bandung and vice versa.
“For today’s departures, it is projected to still reach more than 20,000. The passenger flow appears dense in both directions to Bandung and back,” said Eva in an official statement received in Jakarta on Friday.
She explained that since the Lebaran transportation period began on 13 March until 30 March 2026, the total Whoosh tickets sold have reached around 263,000 tickets.
According to her, this high sales figure indicates strong public interest in using the high-speed train as an intercity mode of transportation.
Eva noted that the current daily passenger volume trend remains at a high level and is estimated to stay above 20,000 passengers per day through the weekend.
In fact, KCIC recorded the interim peak of the 2026 Lebaran transportation on Tuesday (24/3) with a volume of 24,315 passengers in one day.
This figure is higher than the 2025 Lebaran transportation peak of 23,462 passengers, or an increase of about 3.6 percent.
In addition, KCIC also projects a resurgence on 28 to 29 March 2026.
This coincides with the end of the Lebaran transportation period and the resumption of school activities and the end of the work from anywhere (WFA) policy.
Furthermore, Eva stated that this high mobility reflects public confidence in the Whoosh service, which is considered efficient and comfortable for medium-distance travel.
To support smooth journeys, KCIC urges passengers to arrive early at the station and utilise the available intermodal services.
“With good travel planning, the experience of using Whoosh during the Lebaran period will be more comfortable and enjoyable,” said Eva.
