Bandung — PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) forecasts that passenger numbers on the Whoosh high-speed train during the 2026 Lebaran holiday period will increase by approximately 4 percent compared to the previous year.

Eva Chairunisa, General Manager Corporate Secretary of PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China, stated that passenger numbers during the 2025 Lebaran period were recorded at approximately 290,000 people and are projected to increase to around 301,000 passengers during the 2026 Lebaran celebration.

“The increase in passenger numbers demonstrates the growing public interest in choosing Whoosh as their preferred transport option during the Lebaran holiday period,” Eva said in Bandung on Sunday.

According to her, the increase is also evident from the potential surge in daily passenger volumes, which are estimated to be higher than the previous year.

KCIC estimates that the peak passenger movement will occur during two main periods throughout this year’s Lebaran transport season.

“The increase in passenger volume is expected to become visible from 17 March 2026 and continue rising until approaching Lebaran, with the peak outbound migration predicted to occur on H-1 Lebaran (one day before) on 20 March 2026,” she said.

She projected that a passenger surge would also likely occur on H+2 Lebaran (two days after) on 22 March 2026.

“The Whoosh journey is relatively short, taking approximately 30 minutes, so many people choose to perform their Eid al-Fitr prayers first in their home city before travelling by Whoosh for tourism or visiting relatives,” she explained.

KCIC has urged members of the public who have planned travel during the Lebaran transport season to book their tickets in advance through official channels to secure their preferred travel schedules.
