KCIC Enhances Facilities to Anticipate Passenger Build-Up on Whoosh
Jakarta - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) is enhancing facilities and preparing 350 personnel to anticipate potential passenger build-up on the Whoosh high-speed train during the 2026 Lebaran return flow period. “We are preparing more comfortable waiting rooms, particularly at Halim, Padalarang, and Bandung. There are also 350 personnel on standby to anticipate congestion,” said KCIC Corporate Communication Manager Emir Monti at the KCIC Station in East Jakarta on Wednesday. These measures aim to strengthen preparations for potential passenger build-up during the Lebaran transport period, especially for the Whoosh high-speed train service. Emir explained that the waiting room enhancements are intended to provide comfort while reducing density when passenger volumes increase significantly. One key focus is the Bandung Station, where KCIC has expanded the capacity of the KA Feeder Hall from around 200 seats to 300 seats. “This capacity addition is expected to accommodate passenger surges, particularly those continuing their journey via feeder trains,” Emir clarified. Around 50 additional service personnel are deployed at strategic points to assist with passenger flow management and provide necessary information. According to Emir, these extra personnel are crucial, especially since many first-time passengers utilise the Lebaran holiday to try the Whoosh service. “These additional personnel are prepared to help manage passengers and provide information, given the many new users who need guidance when using the Whoosh service,” Emir stated. In addition, KCIC is operating service posts with a total of up to 300 personnel distributed across various areas. “These post personnel are tasked with ensuring smooth operations, assisting passengers, and responding quickly to any on-site issues,” Emir said. With this combination of facility upgrades and additional human resources, KCIC is optimistic about maintaining passenger comfort and smooth travel during the Lebaran mudik and return flow period. This effort is part of KCIC’s commitment to delivering the best service amid high public interest in high-speed rail transport. PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) has recorded 235,000 Whoosh high-speed train tickets sold for various routes during the 2026 Lebaran transport period. “In total, around 235,000 Whoosh tickets have been sold for the Lebaran transport post period from 13 to 30 March to various destinations,” Emir said. The peak return flow for the 2026 Lebaran on the Whoosh high-speed train is expected on 28-29 March, with over 25,000 passengers.
