KCIC Develops Two New Access Routes to Whoosh Karawang Station
Bandung (ANTARA) – PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) is developing two new access routes to Whoosh Karawang Station, linking it with the Trans Heksa Karawang and Deltamas areas. The routes are intended to make travel easier for residents and increase passenger numbers.
KCIC General Manager for Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa said the two routes are under construction and are being developed in cooperation with the government and other relevant parties. They are intended to strengthen the station’s links with surrounding industrial areas, residential neighbourhoods and economic centres.
“The new access routes are expected to give people more travel options, particularly those coming from nearby industrial and residential areas,” Eva said in a statement received in Bandung on Wednesday.
The route through the Trans Heksa Karawang area is being developed over a distance of about 1.6 kilometres, providing a wider and more comfortable road than the access currently available, Eva said.
Meanwhile, the route from Deltamas will extend for about three kilometres via the Cibeet Bridge, providing a more direct connection between industrial, business and residential areas in Bekasi Regency and Whoosh Karawang Station.
At present, people travelling from Deltamas and surrounding areas have to make a detour via the Karawang Barat Toll Gate to reach the station, as there is no direct road access. The new route is expected to offer a shorter and more efficient alternative.
KCIC recorded around 258,000 departing and arriving passengers at Karawang Station from January to September 2026, averaging about 1,000 passengers a day.
Eva said Whoosh services run every hour, with the journey from Halim Station to Karawang Station taking about 15 minutes.
“With improved connectivity, we hope Karawang Station will be able to serve more people, particularly in the industrial and residential areas that continue to grow,” she said.
