Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) predicts that the daily passenger volume for Whoosh will rise by 25 percent during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr period.

General Manager of Corporate Secretary at PT KCIC, Eva Chairunisa, explained that this surge differs from normal days, which range from 16,000 to 18,000 passengers, and weekends with around 20,000 passengers.

“If the prediction for the daily volume increase per day is estimated to rise by up to 25 percent compared to normal days. So, normal days are around 16,000 to 18,000 (passengers),” she stated to ANTARA when met at the KCIC Halim Station in East Jakarta on Wednesday.

In fact, Eva said, the increase could reach 30 percent during the Eid al-Fitr period.

Previously, Eva mentioned that the number of passengers during the 2025 Eid al-Fitr period was recorded at around 290,000 people and is predicted to increase to about 301,000 passengers in 2026.

“The increase in the number of passengers indicates the growing interest of the public in using Whoosh as a transportation choice during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period,” said Eva in Bandung, West Java, on Sunday (15/3).

KCIC also estimates that the peak passenger movement will occur during two main periods in the 2026 Eid al-Fitr Transportation period.

“The increase in passenger volume is expected to be visible starting from 17 March 2026 and continue to rise until approaching Eid al-Fitr, with the peak homecoming flow predicted on H-1 Eid al-Fitr or 20 March 2026,” she said.
