KCIC Confident Husein Sastranegara Airport Reactivation Will Not Eroding Whoosh Passengers

PT KCIC has responded to the plans for the reactivation of Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung, West Java. The Manager of Corporate Communication at KCIC, Emir Monti, stated that the presence of the airport is believed not to erode the passenger base of the Whoosh Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train.

“Regarding the plan to reactivate Husein Sastranegara Airport, it is about how the government wishes to provide various best alternatives for the community as well as foreign tourists,” said Emir when confirmed on Sunday (7/6/2026).

Emir ensured there is no concern regarding competition between different modes of transport, particularly those serving the Bandung-Jakarta route. Although Emir acknowledged that the travel time between Jakarta and Bandung is faster by plane, he noted that the value proposition of the high-speed rail extends beyond speed.

“Whoosh is not just about transportation and time efficiency, but also about how this high-speed train can provide an experience for its users. Therefore, those who use Whoosh do so because they want to experience riding the first high-speed train in Southeast Asia,” added Emir.
