KCIC carries 126,000 Whoosh passengers during long holiday period
Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) transported a total of 126,169 passengers via the Whoosh high-speed train during the long holiday period spanning from the Eid al-Adha holidays to Pancasila Day, which took place from 26 May to 1 June 2026.
KCIC Corporate Secretary GM, Eva Chairunisa, stated that the average daily passenger volume for Whoosh during this holiday period reached between 19,000 and 20,000 passengers.
“The high passenger volume indicates increasing public mobility, with people utilising the long holiday for tourism, visiting relatives, and other travels along the Jakarta-Bandung corridor,” Eva said in Bandung, West Java, on Tuesday.
Eva noted that during the holiday period, the three routes with the highest passenger volumes were Halim-Padalarang with 62,801 passengers, Padalarang-Halim with 43,750 passengers, and Halim-Tegalluar with 14,721 passengers.
“Given the high public interest during this long holiday, KCIC remains committed to providing reliable, fast, and integrated transportation services,” she added.
She revealed that since its commencement, the operations of the Whoosh high-speed train have seen a gradual and continuous increase in the number of trips.
“Public confidence in using Whoosh is driven by various factors, such as the increase in the number of daily trips to 62, and improved accessibility and intermodal integration at the stations,” she said.
According to her, passengers are increasingly trying, enjoying, and eventually using the Whoosh high-speed rail service on a regular basis. The efficiency and comfort offered serve as key competitive advantages for Whoosh.
“Various innovations are being introduced through collaborations with tourist destinations, intermodal services with various transport operators, and the provision of commercial areas,” she concluded.
