KCI Security Officer Praised by KAI for Preventing Passenger from Forcing onto Overcrowded Train at Manggarai
A KCI internal security officer prevented a passenger from forcing her way onto an already full KRL train at Manggarai Station in South Jakarta. The officer’s swift action was appreciated by KAI.
The KCI security guard named Riyanto Deni Susilo had his hat pulled by the passenger who was forcing her way into the overcrowded KRL. However, Riyanto responded to the aggressive action by the female passenger with calm composure.
KAI Services’ President Director, Krisna Arianto, assessed that the dedication shown by Riyanto reflects the values of professionalism upheld by the company. He is considered to have demonstrated professionalism in maintaining order and security in the train service.
“The dedication and integrity shown by Brother Riyanto Deni Susilo serve as a real example for all KAI Services personnel in carrying out their duties with full responsibility,” said Krisna on Wednesday (15/4/2026).
In agreement, KAI Services’ Corporate Communications Manager, Nyoman Suardhita, stated that this appreciation is hoped to serve as motivation for all field officers to continue maintaining service and security standards.
“We hope this award can be an encouragement for all officers to continue working professionally, alertly, and with integrity in providing a sense of safety and comfort to KRL passengers,” said Nyoman.
The award certificate for the PKD at Manggarai Station was presented by KAI Services’ President Director, Krisna Arianto, accompanied by the Director of Corporate Business and Operations, Benny Rustant, at the Auditorium of KAI Services’ Head Office on Tuesday (14/4).
Previously, a video of a passenger forcing her way onto a full KRL went viral on social media. The passenger was then pulled by the officer for the safety of that passenger and other passengers.
However, the passenger resisted and pulled the officer’s hat while continuing to try to advance towards the KRL even though the door was already closed. The overcrowding of the KRL carriage even caused items carried by other passengers to be trapped in the KRL door.
The incident occurred in carriage 1 of the KRL departing from Manggarai Station, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/4). At that time, several other female passengers also reminded her. They appeared surprised and shook their heads seeing the incident.
KAI Services’ Corporate Communications Manager, Nyoman Suardhita, said that passenger safety cannot be compromised and is the top priority in every service. KAI Services security officers in carrying out their duties always prioritise passenger safety both during the journey and at the station.
“This condition not only has the potential to disrupt travel operations but also endangers the safety of the passenger herself as well as other users,” said Nyoman on Thursday (9/4).
