KCI Investigates Report of Alleged Sexual Harassment on Jakarta Kota-Bogor KRL Route
A video circulated on social media showing a woman claiming to be a victim of sexual harassment aboard a KRL train carriage on the Jakarta Kota-Bogor route. The woman reported the incident to officials at Cilebut Station.
In the video viewed on Friday, 27 February 2026, the woman recounted that she boarded at Manggarai Station. During the journey, she began to feel physical contact. However, she initially dismissed it, assuming the touch came from another passenger’s bag. This continued until one of the suspected perpetrators spoke to her.
According to the woman’s account, the man casually asked her whether she was angry when his genitals were rubbed against her during the journey. She stated that other passengers neither assisted her nor offered any help, only looking in her direction. She ultimately decided to alight at Cilebut Station and report the incident to officials.
KAI Commuter’s VP of Corporate Secretary, Karina Amanda, confirmed that the incident occurred on 22 January. The company stated it had immediately followed up on the victim’s report.
“We immediately acted on the report. KAI Commuter is certainly always ready to provide full support to protect and assist the victim in continuing the legal process with the authorities,” she said.
Officials immediately provided support to the victim as a rapid response measure. Karina also appealed to all KRL users not to hesitate in reporting similar incidents to staff.
“We certainly urge all service users not to hesitate to report any form of harassment through field staff or official KAI Commuter services,” she concluded.
