KCI Clarifies Viral Altercation Between Security Officer and KRL Passenger at Angke Station

A video depicting an altercation between a security officer and a commuter rail (KRL) passenger has gone viral on social media. KAI Commuter Indonesia (KCI) has clarified the details of the incident that occurred at Angke Station, West Jakarta.

The event took place at approximately 1:00 PM WIB when a security officer at Angke Station reprimanded a passenger sitting on the station platform stairs.

KAI Commuter’s Public Relations Manager, Leza Arlan, stated that the security officer, who was on duty at the crossing area of platforms 2-3 at Angke Station, issued warnings and advice against sitting on the stairs, as it could obstruct the flow of other passengers boarding the Commuter Line.

“These warnings and advice were given to the passenger three times, but were ignored. After finishing his shift, the security officer approached the passenger again because he was offended by racial remarks and insults directed at him,” Leza explained in a statement on Thursday (3/9/2026).

The incident resulted in a disturbance but was eventually de-escalated by other officers on duty. Subsequently, the officer involved has been investigated and provided with coaching to ensure they remain patient and humane when providing services. If it is proven that work regulations were violated, strict sanctions will be imposed.

KAI Commuter urges all passengers to follow the instructions of station officers. These directions are solely intended to maintain the comfort and safety of all users.

KAI Commuter will also conduct regular training for all frontline staff to prioritise a humane approach when delivering services.
