KBPP Polri Supports Police Chief's Firm Action Against Errant Members
Jakarta — The General Chairperson of Keluarga Besar Putra-Putri Polri (KBPP Polri) Evita Nursanty has expressed full support for the firm stance taken by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo in disciplining police members who commit violations.
“The statement from the Police Chief is clear and firm, isn’t it? Those at fault will be subject to legal action. We support the policies and decisions made by the Police Chief in this matter,” said Evita when met during a joint breaking of fast and the commemoration of the 23rd anniversary of KBPP Polri in Jakarta on Sunday.
Evita made these remarks in response to cases involving several police members that went viral on social media.
Evita emphasised that imposing sanctions against members suspected of violations cannot be done hastily but must go through the proper procedures. “Of course it is not easy to impose sanctions on someone; there must be investigations and inquiries,” she said.
She also stressed that such violations constitute individual acts and do not reflect the values upheld by the Police institution. “We cannot speak on behalf of the institution. These are individuals, and if they deviate from their duties and functions, as the Police Chief said, they will be dealt with firmly,” Evita stated.
Previously, the Police Public Relations Director, Major General Johnny Eddizon Isir, emphasised that the National Police remain committed to carrying out their duties whilst upholding the code of ethics and observing applicable rules and regulations. “The Police Chief has made it clear that the National Police will not hesitate to firmly enforce the code of ethics and the law if there are individuals who deviate in their performance of duty or conduct,” said the Police Public Relations Director.
