KBPP Polri Praises DPR's Responsive Leadership in Safeguarding National Stability

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Chairman of the Keluarga Besar Putra-Putri (KBPP) Polri, AH. Bimo Suryono, has assessed that the House of Representatives (DPR RI), under the leadership of Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, has demonstrated responsive leadership, maintained national stability, and safeguarded the people’s aspirations. According to him, the current DPR RI is showing an increasingly active role in carrying out its constitutional functions as a representative body and is capable of meeting the public’s high expectations for the creation of various regulations amidst global dynamics. One clear example was evident when the Indonesian capital market experienced pressure. At that time, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad moved quickly to establish communication with the government, relevant authorities, and stakeholders in the financial sector, Bimo said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday. He stated that this step was taken to maintain stability and restore confidence, sending a positive signal to the business world and market players. In addition, he expressed appreciation for Dasco’s move to request Commission III of the DPR RI to continue the deliberation of the Asset Forfeiture Bill. He said this step provided an answer to the growing public perception that the DPR was no longer discussing the bill, whereas the legislative process is actually proceeding according to the applicable mechanism. ‘This statement provides certainty to the public that the DPR is carrying out its legislative function and is not turning a blind eye to public aspirations,’ he said. He stressed that the Asset Forfeiture Bill is a regulation that has long been a public concern because it is expected to strengthen the national legal system in handling criminal acts related to proceeds of crime. Bimo also reminded that the deliberation of the bill must be carried out carefully and comprehensively by involving all stakeholders, including the government, law enforcement officials, academics, legal practitioners, and civil society. He emphasised that a good law is not only born from public demand but is also built through mature study, respects the constitution, upholds human rights, and provides legal certainty. ‘I am confident that Commission III of the DPR RI can produce a quality regulation if the deliberation process is conducted openly and accountably,’ he asserted. Bimo added that responsive leadership is measured not only by the speed of taking a stance but also by the willingness to listen to the people’s aspirations and translate them into state policy. According to him, Dasco’s steps in responding to these two strategic issues show that the DPR RI continues to play its role as a bridge between the interests of the people and the interests of the state. Bimo assessed that a leader must be able to read the needs of the community and answer them through concrete actions. He expressed hope that the DPR RI would continue to maintain this spirit so that every national strategic agenda can be resolved through dialogue, deliberation, and constitutional mechanisms that prioritise the interests of the nation. ‘We hope the DPR RI continues to be a house for the people’s aspirations.
