KBI Drives Rail-Based Warehouse Receipt System to Strengthen National Commodity Logistics
PT Kliring Berjangka Indonesia (KBI), the sole state-owned enterprise functioning as the Warehouse Receipt Registration Centre, is supporting the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (BAPPEBTI) in the inspection and handover of a rail-based Warehouse Receipt System (SRG) warehouse for coffee commodities in the Gedebage Station area, Bandung. This marks the soft launch of the rail-based SRG implementation, which is expected to strengthen national commodity logistics connectivity.
KBI President Director Budi Susanto stated that the rail-based SRG implementation represents a synergy among stakeholders to reinforce the national commodity trading ecosystem. “PT KBI, as the Warehouse Receipt Registration Centre, is committed to continuously encouraging the integration of SRG into the national commodity supply chain. We hope West Java can become a pioneer in implementing rail-based SRG through strong synergy between PT KBI, BAPPEBTI, the West Java Provincial Government, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), PT Sucofindo (Persero), Bank BJB, and PT ASLI Logistik Indonesia,” he said.
The Gedebage SRG Warehouse is an asset owned by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) and is utilised through a collaboration with PT ASLI Logistik Indonesia, with warehouse management conducted by PT Sucofindo (Persero). The facility is strategically designed to integrate the commodity storage system with the railway transportation network, enabling more efficient and measurable distribution processes.
In its initial operational phase, the warehouse will support the storage of Java Preanger coffee, a flagship commodity of West Java that is widely recognised in the global market. The development of this rail-based SRG is expected to not only serve as a storage facility but also as a logistics hub connecting production centres with both domestic and international markets, thereby reducing logistics costs and enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesian commodities.
