Kazakh Citizen, Wanted by Interpol in Connection with a Murder Case, Arrested in North Lombok
A citizen of Kazakhstan, SS, who was on Interpol’s wanted list in connection with a murder case, was arrested in Senaru village, Bayan district, North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The 29-year-old is wanted in Kazakhstan for a murder case.
SS was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the North Lombok Police on Tuesday (24/2/2026). “This action was taken after we received official information regarding his presence within the jurisdiction of the North Lombok Police,” said North Lombok Police Chief, AKBP Agus Purwanta, on Thursday (26/2/2026).
The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the North Lombok Police, Iptu I Komang Wilandra, stated that the team conducted a discreet investigation after receiving valid information about his presence in the Senaru tourist area.
SS attempted to leave the location when the arrest was being made, but he was eventually secured without resistance. The arrest of SS did not cause any disruption to the surrounding community.
In addition to SS, the police also detained a Kazakh woman with the initials MA (30). “The legal status of the individual is still being investigated by investigators,” said Wilandra.
Investigators also secured several items, including a passport, mobile phone, identity card, international bank card, and other personal documents for administrative purposes and cross-country coordination.
Based on documents from the Kazakh authorities as stated in the Red Notice, SS is suspected of being involved in an incident in Atyrau on November 2-3, 2025. The information mentions the alleged murder of two victims.
“The entire substance of the case is under the jurisdiction of Kazakh law enforcement,” said Wilandra.
The next steps will be coordinated with the Polri’s International Relations Division (Divhubinter), the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, and other relevant agencies to determine the legal mechanism to be taken, including the possibility of an extradition process in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
SS and MA are currently being held at the North Lombok Police headquarters while awaiting further legal processes and international coordination. “All stages will be carried out in accordance with national law and international cooperation mechanisms,” explained Wilandra.
