Kasuari Regional Commander: 1,900 TNI-Polri Personnel to Secure Vice President's Visit

Sorong (ANTARA) - Commander of the XVIII/Kasuari Regional Military Command, Major General TNI Christian Kurnianto Tehuteru, stated that 1,900 combined TNI and Police personnel have been mobilised to secure Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s working visit to Southwest Papua Province, scheduled for Tuesday (21/4).

“Internal preparations are fully organised for all involved TNI and Police elements. We have also conducted coordination meetings and rehearsals regarding the security for the Vice President’s arrival,” the Regional Commander said after a coordination meeting at the Southwest Papua Governor’s Office in Sorong on Monday.

He explained that all security elements have been meticulously mapped out, from the first to the third security rings, to ensure that the entire series of the Vice President’s activities proceed safely and smoothly.

Nevertheless, his side continues to take anticipatory measures by deploying maximum forces.

“We will continue to follow up on situation developments to ensure that public order and security remain safe and conducive. All forces are deployed to guarantee that the Vice President’s working visit runs well,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Southwest Papua Governor Elisa Kambu assured the local government’s readiness to welcome the Vice President’s visit.

She stated that the regional conditions are safe and stable, allowing all visit agendas to proceed without obstacles.

The Governor added that the Vice President’s visit is expected to accelerate development in Southwest Papua, including strengthening the infrastructure sector, public services, and community welfare.

In addition to security, the local government, together with TNI and Police, is also ensuring the readiness of supporting facilities such as transportation routes, activity locations, and health services to support the smooth running of the state agenda.

“With the synergy of all parties, the Vice President’s working visit to Southwest Papua is expected to proceed safely, orderly, and provide positive impacts for regional development,” she hoped.

To date, the local government has not detailed the complete agenda of the Vice President of Indonesia’s visit to Southwest Papua on Tuesday (20/4).
