Kasmiran gets FIDE title
JAKARTA (JP): Kasmiran clinched a FIDE Master title after
beating Sandhi Sunardi at an elo rating chess tournament here on
Tuesday. FIDE is the world chess governing body.
The win raised the points Kasmiran collected during the 10-
session tournament to seven. This boosted his present elo rating
of 2,270 by 35 to 2,305. Kasmiran is a teacher at the Enerpac
chess school in West Jakarta, the organizer of the tournament
which was scheduled to end yesterday.
A player is entitled to a FIDE Master title if he or she has
reached a minimum elo rating of 2,300 and has competed for a
minimum of 24 sessions during various elo rating tournaments.
Kasmiran played 10 sessions at the Gunadarma rating tournament
last year and 12 sessions at another rating tournament in Ujung
Pandang a few months ago. (arf)
