Kashmir blasts injure at least 31 people

INDIA: At least 31 people, mostly civilians, were injured in
Indian-administered Kashmir Saturday in two separate blasts aimed
at the restive region's security forces, police and witnesses
said.

Police said seven Central Reserve Police Force personnel and
12 civilians were hurt when suspected Islamic militants detonated
a car bomb on the Anantnag-Pahalgam road as a paramilitary patrol
was passing.

The attack, which occurred some 60 kilometers (37 miles) south
of Indian Kashmir's summer capital Srinagar, was later claimed in
calls to local newspaper offices by Kashmir's dominant rebel
group Hizbul Mujahedin.

In Srinagar's busy Dalgate commercial area, 12 civilians were
wounded when a grenade lobbed by rebels at a security force
vehicle missed its target and fell among shoppers, police and
witnesses said. No one immediately claimed responsibility. --
