Kartini Day: Women Encouraged to Create and Fight for Equality
Kudus (ANTARA) - The Deputy Regent of Kudus, Bellinda Putri Sabrina Birton, on the occasion of Kartini Day, invited all women in Kudus Regency, Central Java, to continue enthusiastically creating and contributing to regional development. “This Kartini Day momentum can also serve as an important reminder of the role of women in driving regional progress. We hope that women in Kudus remain enthusiastic in helping development and continue to fight for gender equality,” she stated while serving as the inspecting officer at the Kartini Day commemoration ceremony on the grounds of the Kudus Regency Pendopo on Tuesday. In her speech, Bellinda also extended Kartini Day greetings to all women, especially those in Kudus. Although the role of women in various sectors is increasingly visible today, according to her, the imbalance between men and women is still quite pronounced. Therefore, she invited all women to continue uniting to fight for that equality. “In the future, we women must continue to struggle together so that equality is truly realised,” she said. She encouraged women to remain consistent in their creations and not to give up in facing various challenges. “To all empowered women in public spaces, continue to create and fight. Especially for women who are family breadwinners, remain enthusiastic in making your respective families happy,” she said. On that occasion, the Deputy Regent of Kudus also drew attention for being accompanied by her child while leading the ceremony. She admitted that this was not the first time she had done so and that it did not interfere with her performance as a public official. “I am accompanied by my child because she wanted to join earlier. My principle is, as long as the work can be completed well and does not disrupt, it’s not a problem,” she said. She added that togetherness with her child becomes a precious moment amid her busyness as a regional official. Moreover, as a single parent, time with her child is something very meaningful. “This can also serve as an example for mothers out there, especially single parents. As long as the work is finished and the child is still cared for, everything can run well,” she said. The Kartini Day momentum, she continued, serves as a reminder that women not only have important roles within the family but also in public spaces in driving regional progress.
