Kartini Day: Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Calls for Collective Efforts to Empower Women

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Arifah Fauzi views women’s empowerment efforts as needing to be carried out synergistically by all elements of the nation, from central government, regional governments, the business world, community institutions, academics, media, to communities. “Looking ahead, we have collective work to ensure that women have equal access, participation, control, and benefits in all development sectors,” said Minister PPPA Arifah Fauzi in Jakarta on Tuesday, in response to Kartini Day commemorations. She stated that women currently face various forms of inequality in access, participation, and control in the implementation of development processes, as well as inequality in the benefits obtained from development outcomes. According to Arifah Fauzi, Kartini Day commemorations should be interpreted as a collective call to ensure that national development truly brings about justice. “Kartini Day commemorations should ideally become a moment of reflection for us to see how effective we have been in providing space for gender equality for women, both in the household and in the public sphere,” she said. The Ministry of PPPA and all regional agencies responsible for women’s empowerment are committed to continuing to promote gender mainstreaming through policies, programmes, and increasingly inclusive innovations. “The spirit of Raden Ajeng (RA) Kartini today is not only about opening access, but also ensuring that women have choices, have a voice, and have control over their lives,” said Minister PPPA Arifah Fauzi.
