Kartini Day: Ineu Purwadewi Highlights Women's Role Amid Geopolitical Turmoil

April is women’s month. This is because the birth of the national figure RA Kartini on 21 April is always used as an important momentum for Indonesian women to continue creating and improving their quality of life.

The Chair of the PDIP Faction in the West Java DPRD, Ineu Purwadewi Sundari, also responded to this Kartini Day momentum. She assessed that Kartini Day must be interpreted as a reminder of the importance of women’s roles in facing the challenges of the times, especially amid the current global dynamics.

According to Ineu, in the heated condition of global geopolitics, women now face increasingly complex challenges. They not only face challenges within the family scope but also in social and economic life.

Ineu said that the uncertain global condition also impacts people’s lives. From the rising cost of living to economic uncertainty felt down to the family level.

“Women must be able to adapt to this situation, because the impact is directly felt in daily life,” said Ineu to Republika on Tuesday (21/4/2026).

Ineu emphasised that women have a strategic role in maintaining family resilience, especially in managing household needs amid economic pressures.

In addition, she encouraged women to continue enhancing their capacities, including in facing rapid technological developments and digitalisation. “The challenges now are different; women must continue learning and adapting to the times,” she said.

Ineu also invited women to support each other and strengthen solidarity, especially in facing various impacts caused by the global situation. “This Kartini momentum must be a reminder to strengthen each other and care for one another,” she said.
