Kartini Day Commemorated in Various Cities in America

Jakarta, 24 April 1954 (ANTARA) - At the Indonesian Embassy in Washington on 21 April, a tea reception was held to commemorate Kartini Day. Approximately 200 women attended, including members of the American Women’s Organization, women from the press, wives of high-ranking US government officials, and representatives from diplomatic missions in Washington. Similar receptions were also held in New York, San Francisco, and Chicago. The guests, who joined Indonesians in celebrating Kartini Day, were welcomed by Mrs Mukarto Notowidigdo and Miss Sawitri Sastroamidjojo, daughter of Prime Minister Ali Sastroamidjojo.
