Kartika continues c'ship domination

JAKARTA (JP): Defending champion Kartika Shooting Club has maintained its domination on the third day of the Inter-club National Championships at the Bung Karno Shooting Range in Senayan, Central Jakarta, despite a decline in productivity which saw them take only two golds home after grabbing six on Thursday.

Kartika earned its first gold thanks to Maryono who scored 667.7 in the men's air pistol event on Friday. Teammate Sarozawato Zai scored 658.6 to finish second, followed by Idsyam Kaplale of East Java Police with 656.1.

Kartika's second gold was won in the men's air pistol team event after its shooters earned a total points tally of 1672 with contributions by Maryono (564), Sarowawto Zai (561) and Sholeh (547).

Plaza Blok M grabbed the silver when Jantus Haposan (548), Alfred Sigalingging (545) and Indra Jaya (532) collected a total of 1620 points. Third place went to Timor which scored a total of 1614 from Darwin Nasution (548), M. Syauqi (539) and Pandu Pramarta (527).

In the men's free rifle prone event, Ari Setiatmoko of Timor shot 683.5 points to grab the gold. He was followed by Abdul Rasid Mursid of Bimantara with 671.5 and Soekarno of Pupuk Kaltim with 669.9 points.

In the men's free rifle prone team event, Bimantara finished first with a total of 1711 thanks to Abdul Rasid Mursid (572), Bonny (570) and Thomas Leo (569). Kartika had to be satisfied with being runners up after its shooters Saepullah, Suyono and Darmin only scored 1686.

As only three teams competed in the event, third placed Dewaruci, scoring 1676, was not awarded bronze as stipulated by championship regulations.

Amanti Muslimah of Bali Police won gold in the women's sport pistol event scoring 669.6. Erni Soekarno F of Timor came in second with 656.3 and Bary Agustini of National Police finished third with 650.

The women's sport pistol team event participants -- National Police scoring 1634 and East Java Police scoring 1570 -- did some fingernail biting while organizers were deciding not to award medals because only two teams competed.

Erlinawati of Kareumbi shot 581 to grab the women's sport rifle prone gold followed by Yasmine Arub of Gelatik 90 with 574 and Titik S. of Kartika with 573. (nvn)
