Karo Regency Ensures Basic Needs of Mount Sinabung Evacuees are Met

The Karo Regency government, North Sumatra, has ensured that the basic needs of evacuees affected by the Mount Sinabung eruptions, such as food, clean water, adequate shelter, and other essential commodities, are being met.

“We are here not merely to inspect, but to share in the experiences of our fellow citizens. This is a demonstration of the presence of the state and local leadership amidst a community facing difficulties,” stated the Regent of Karo, Antonius Ginting, during a visit to the evacuation site in Losd Pulunipe, Sukatepu Village, Namanteran District, on Tuesday night.

The Karo Regency Government, alongside the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), is committed to providing services and assistance to the disaster-affected community throughout the emergency response period.

Antonius noted that the government will continue to monitor the condition of the evacuees and ensure their needs are fulfilled until the situation surrounding Mount Sinabung returns to a stable state.

Local authorities have also urged the public to continue following the instructions of officers and to refrain from returning to areas within the danger zone until they are declared safe by the relevant authorities.

Regent Antonius Ginting, together with Vice Regent Komando Tarigan and the Karo Regency Forkopimda, also shared dinner with the residents affected by the Mount Sinabung eruption in Losd Pulunipe, Sukatepu Village, Namanteran District.

This activity serves as a way for the local government and Forkopimda members to show their presence among the community affected by the eruption, while simultaneously ensuring that the basic needs of residents at the evacuation sites are being met.
