Karmila Sari Receives 'Legislator Caring for Education and Women' detikSumatera Awards
Member of the House of Representatives (DPR) for the Riau electoral district, Karmila Sari, received the detikSumatera Award 2026. Karmila was honoured in the category of ‘Legislator Caring for Education Equity and Women’s Human Resource Development’.
The detikSumatera Awards were held at Trans Hotel Jakarta on Thursday (28/8/2026). The award was presented directly by Transmedia Director Latif Harnoko.
Karmila received the award for her work as a female figure in Senayan who actively advocates for women’s rights, education, youth, and human resource improvement.
Karmila also championed the construction of SD Negeri 006 Filial in a palm oil plantation area with limited access. Through collaboration with various parties, including assistance from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the school was successfully built.
In addition, Karmila actively promotes employment opportunities for people with disabilities and local workers, and provides education through discussions, seminars, and activities at various universities. Her commitment to education and human resource improvement has been pursued since she served as a member of the Riau Provincial DPRD and Rokan Hilir DPRD, based on the belief that every child has the right to educational opportunities up to the undergraduate level.
The detikSumatera Award 2026 serves as a form of appreciation for figures, institutions, and communities for their innovation and contributions to advancing Sumatra. It also aims to inspire the emergence of various breakthroughs for regional and community progress.
The awards were determined through a rigorous selection process by the detikcom editorial board, taking into account creativity, inspiration, and social impact in each respective field.
A number of awards were presented at the detikSumatera Award 2026, including the Commendable Development Innovation Programme Award, the Commendable Economic Programme Award, the Commendable Business Award, and the Figure of Progress Acceleration Award.
