Karina Moudy Makes Debut in Sekawan Limo 2: The Power of Javanese Culture
Actress Karina Moudy expressed admiration for the local cultural elements that form the essence of the latest film by director Bayu Skak, Sekawan Limo 2: Gunung Klawih. She stated that the consistent use of regional language provides remarkable appeal for the domestic film industry.
During a press conference on Wednesday (27 May), Karina highlighted that the use of Javanese in nearly all scenes is the film’s main strength. As a former Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata, she feels a strong emotional connection to the film’s cultural preservation mission.
“I am a former Puteri Indonesia Pariwisata, so it’s closely tied to culture. This film showcases Indonesian culture by being entirely in Javanese, which makes it exceptionally appealing,” Karina said.
Sekawan Limo 2: Gunung Klawih marks Karina Moudy’s active debut in the feature film industry. Through her involvement in this horror-comedy project, she said she gained valuable lessons about the process and hard work involved.
She stressed the importance of valuing every stage of a career, from casting to filming, without seeking shortcuts.
“Nothing can be achieved instantly. Instant results lead to disaster in the end. So enjoy the process,” she wisely remarked.
Furthermore, Karina hopes the trend of highlighting local languages and traditions in films continues. This is believed to drive the creative industry and promote tourism potential across Indonesia’s regions.
She also praised Bayu Skak’s vision for consistently bringing regional identity to national and international stages.
“I hope, as Mas Bayu’s aspiration, this can advance Indonesian tourism—from the regions for Indonesia, and from Indonesia for the world,” she concluded. (Ant/Z-1)
