Karet Station Officially Closed: Changes for Commuter Line Passengers

Commuter Line passengers accustomed to boarding and alighting at Karet Station must alter their travel routines starting today, Tuesday, 1 September 2026. This is due to the station no longer officially serving passenger activities for the Commuter Line as the integration process with the New Sudirman or BNI City Station begins.

This change is part of the restructuring of the Jabodetabek Commuter Line services. While the works are underway, Karet Station users will be directed to use BNI City as a replacement station to continue their journeys.

Passengers who previously used Karet Station can still access BNI City from the area. KAI has provided a walkway adjacent to Karet Station that serves as a path leading to BNI City Station.

Electronic gate facilities, ticket counters, and halls on the western side of BNI City are also available. This area has been connected to the access point from the Karet entrance, allowing passengers to continue their journeys without having to seek alternative access far from their previous location.

During the integration works, boarding and alighting services for the Commuter Line at Karet Station will be fully diverted to BNI City. This restructuring process is scheduled to take place from 1 September to 31 December 2026.

KAI Commuter President Director Purnomo Sidi stated that the work is being carried out carefully, given the high level of public activity at Karet Station. “During this integration process, preparations are being made with a principle of caution, as Karet Station has become part of the daily activities of Commuter Line users and the surrounding community,” he said.

He ensured that the diversion of services will remain in effect for the duration of the integration works. “During the work process, boarding and alighting services for Commuter Line users will be diverted to the New Sudirman/BNI City Station,” he added.

Furthermore, facilities are being prepared to support the integration of Karet Station and BNI City, specifically a travelator. This facility will serve as a connecting access for users moving from the Karet area towards BNI City.

KAI plans to build an air-conditioned travelator to ensure that the journey to the station can be completed more comfortably. PT KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin stated that the construction preparations for the travelator are targeted to take 70 days.
