Karawang Police Investigate Discovery of Unidentified Woman's Body at KJIE Industrial Estate
Karawang — Police in Karawang are investigating the discovery of an unidentified woman’s body found along a water channel at the Karawang Jabar Industrial Estate (KJIE) in Karawang Regency, West Java, on Saturday.
According to Ipda Cep Wildan, public relations chief of Karawang Police District, the female body was initially discovered lying face down with her face towards the ground and fully clothed.
The body was found whilst two witnesses, Ranin and Sating, were carrying out routine maintenance and cleaning work along the roadside at the KJIE industrial area, specifically in front of the TMIIN area.
Ranin noticed what appeared to be a human body along the water channel edge. Upon approaching, it was confirmed to be the corpse of a woman lying face down.
“Witness Ranin then called his colleague Sating to confirm the discovery. They immediately contacted KJIE security (Satpam) and reported the incident to the West Telukjambe Police Station,” said Wildan.
The victim’s identity remains a mystery. Officers examining the crime scene found no identification documents or personal papers belonging to the deceased.
Preliminary identifying features indicate a woman wearing a dark chequered shirt, jeans, and a grey jacket. However, her age and residential address have not yet been established.
West Telukjambe Police Station, which received the initial report, promptly proceeded to the location to undertake medical procedures and secure the area.
Officers from the Karawang Police District’s forensic and criminal investigation unit, along with the West Telukjambe Police Station’s criminal division, conducted crime scene investigation, established police cordons to secure the location, and took statements from witnesses present.
The body has since been evacuated to Karawang Regional General Hospital for examination to determine the exact cause of death.
“Regarding the discovery of the unidentified woman’s body, we urge any residents who believe they are missing a family member to immediately report to the nearest police station,” Wildan said.
