Karawang, ANTARA – The Karawang Police (Polres Karawang) confirmed that the Cap Go Meh parade 2577/2026 held in the urban area of Karawang Regency, West Java, on Sunday, went off safely and peacefully. ‘The police force had carried out maximum security measures throughout the event, ensuring the occasion proceeded smoothly and safely,’ said IPDA Cep Wildan, the Karawang Police Public Relations Chief, in Karawang on Sunday. The event began on Sunday at 11:03 WIB at Bio Kwan Tee Koen (Vihara Dharma Persada) on Jl Ir H Juanda, Nagasari, Karawang Barat. The Cap Go Meh parade covered a relatively long route through Karawang’s urban area, from Bio Kwan Tee Koen - Jl Ir. H. Juanda - Rumah Makan Dukuh - Pertigaan Stasiun Karawang - Jalan Niaga - Jalan Tuparev, finishing again at Bio Kwan Tee Koen. The proceedings also included collective prayers and the Gotong Toa Pe Kong cultural procession. Cep Wildan stated that Karawang Police had conducted maximum security to ensure the event ran smoothly and safely. ‘This security is aimed at giving a sense of safety and comfort to the people taking part in the event, as well as maintaining public order and safety in Karawang,’ he said. The event featured five joli, one ‘ruwat bumi’ vehicle, and one lion dance (liong) and barongsai, which were paraded around the city. Cap Go Meh is the peak and closing ceremony of the Chinese New Year celebrations, which falls on the 15th day of the first month of the Chinese calendar.
