Karawang MI pupil missing for four days, runs away with her boyfriend and hides at a neighbourhood patrol post

A 13-year-old pupil of a Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) from Karawang Barat district went viral on social media after being reported missing for four days. The teenager, identified by the initials LZ, was found safe by her family while with a 15-year-old boy identified by the initials SA, her boyfriend.

The two were found at a neighbourhood patrol post in Mekarjati Kelurahan, Karawang Barat district, Karawang Regency.

The Public Relations Head of Karawang Police, Inspector Cep Wildan, explained that the incident began on Sunday (17 May). At that time, SA contacted LZ via text message and expressed a desire to leave home.

‘The victim wanted to run away, sending a message to her boyfriend. It turned out SA had been forbidden by LZ; the two eventually agreed to meet at the Jembatan Jalan Baru bridge on Monday morning (18 May),’ Wildan said, quoting detikcom, Friday (22 May).

The next day, Monday (18 May) at around 07:00 local time, LZ told her parents she was going to school as usual. However, she did not go to school and instead chose to meet SA as planned.

After meeting, they left and hid at a neighbourhood patrol post located in Mekarjati, Karawang Barat.

For several days, their whereabouts were unknown until they were eventually found by family and residents.
