The West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in Karawang deployed eight fire engines to extinguish a blaze that gutted the Karawang office of the National Land Agency (BPN).

“Eight vehicles were deployed to put out the fire,” said Rudi Suwardi, commander of Fire Unit Platoon 3 at the Karawang BPBD, in Karawang on Thursday (15 October 2026).

Fire engines from the KIIC industrial estate and the Karawang Military District Command also assisted in tackling the blaze, which engulfed the BPN office on Wednesday night (14 October 2026).

Firefighters began battling the blaze at about 10pm on Wednesday and continued until Thursday morning.

According to information from the scene, most of the Karawang BPN office was gutted. A number of assets and documents inside the building were also destroyed.

The office is located alongside the road, opposite Ahmad Yani main road, and the fire temporarily disrupted traffic. Many passers-by gathered at the scene to watch and record the incident.

Rudi said the cause of the fire and the point where it started had not yet been established, as the incident was still being investigated.

“The cause has not been determined with certainty; further investigation is needed,” he said.

When firefighters arrived, the blaze had already become quite large, prompting an intensive response.

The authorities confirmed that there were no casualties, as the office was empty at the time of the fire.
