Karawang Gay Party Involves Students, West Java Provincial Government Prepares Rehabilitation
The West Java Provincial Government is paying serious attention to the case of a same-sex party that occurred at a nightlife venue in Karawang Regency. West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi emphasised that his administration is preparing rehabilitation measures, particularly for participants who are still students. Dedi stated that the government has an obligation to provide guidance and mental improvement for the students involved in the incident. This step is being taken as a form of educational and social responsibility in the West Java region. “The policy is, if they are students, then we are obliged to fix them. If they are members of the public, well, perhaps I also have to fix them,” said Dedi Mulyadi during a press statement in Bandung on Tuesday. The Governor added that his party is seeking an appropriate institution for the recovery process. One option being considered is involving a specific institution for disciplinary guidance. “Later we will search for an institution that can heal them. Hopefully, military barracks can resolve this,” he added. Currently, the West Java Provincial Government continues to verify and examine the identities of the gay party participants. The main focus is to find out whether there are other participants who are still teenagers or active students in order to receive immediate handling. Dedi also expressed his support for the firm stance of the Karawang Regency Government. He encouraged the local government apparatus to take real action in maintaining norms and order in their area. “From the regional aspect, the Regent has stated there is no place for gay people in Karawang. It is now up to the Regent and all ranks to take more concrete action,” he stressed. On the legal side, the West Java Regional Police moved swiftly following the circulation of an indecent act video recorded in the early hours of Sunday at Theater Night Mart, Karawang. The Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police confirmed that the investigation has yielded results. After examining seven witnesses, including the nightclub owner, police officially named three suspects.
