A total of 17,882 people from 5,853 families are experiencing clean water difficulties due to the drought during this year’s dry season.
“To date, a total of 828,000 litres of clean water has been distributed to areas experiencing a clean water crisis,” he said.
According to Karawang BPBD data, 273,000 litres of clean water were distributed directly by BPBD.
In addition, water distribution was also carried out through collaboration between BPBD and various parties such as Perumdam/PDAM, the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), Baznas and others, reaching 555,000 litres of clean water. The total clean water distributed therefore amounts to 828,000 litres.
Meanwhile, the drought has been reported to have affected 15 villages spread across five sub-districts. In Pangkalan Sub-district, the affected areas include Mulangsari, Kertasari, Jatilaksana, Ciptasari, Medalsari and Cintaasih villages.
Similar conditions have also been felt in Tegalwaru Sub-district, covering Kutalanggeng and Cintalanggeng villages, as well as Ciampel Sub-district, which includes Mulyasejati, Kutanegara and Parungmulya villages.
The drought has also extended to Wanakerta Village in West Telukjambe Sub-district, as well as three villages in East Telukjambe Sub-district, namely Sukaluyu, Puserjaya and Sirnabaya villages.
Ferry said that the distribution of clean water is part of efforts to address the impact of the drought, particularly to meet the basic needs of communities in areas experiencing limited clean water availability.
Karawang BPBD, together with other parties, will continue to distribute clean water to affected areas according to needs and conditions on the ground.
