A solidarity action for residents affected by disasters in NTB and NTT was held by dozens of young people and students in Karangasem, Bali. In just two hours, they managed to collect donations amounting to Rp 21,842,500.

The action, titled Pray for NTB and NTT, was held on Tuesday (25/8/2026). A total of 39 young people and students from a number of youth and student organisations in Karangasem took to the streets to raise funds.

The humanitarian action was initiated by the Karangasem Branch Leadership of the Indonesian Hindu Dharma Student Association (PC KMHDI). Field Coordinator and Chair of PC KMHDI Karangasem, I Ketut Yoga Pramuditya, said the action was a form of concern by Karangasem youth for communities in NTB and NTT who are facing disasters.

“This movement is not merely about the amount of money collected. The greatest value of this action is the growth of solidarity and concern among the people of Karangasem for fellow citizens facing disasters,” said Yoga on Tuesday (25/8/2026).

Before taking to the streets, all participants gathered at the Gunung Agung Sports Hall in Amlapura from 06.00 WITA. They attended a briefing and were assigned fundraising locations.

Fundraising was carried out at three points: the junction east of Jalur 11 or Jalan Veteran, the Abang junction, and the Catur Muka intersection or Patung Kereta.

“Of the 39 participants, 16 were cadres of PC KMHDI Karangasem, 17 from HIMA PNB Karangasem, three members of the BEM of STKIP Agama Hindu Amlapura, and three from BEM Alfa Prima Karangasem,” said Yoga.

Yoga expressed appreciation to all parties who supported and contributed to the success of the social action, from young people and students, the government, the police, to the people of Karangasem who made donations.

According to him, the involvement of various organisations is proof that humanitarian issues can unite young people to act together.

“What we did today may look simple, but when done together, small support from the community can become a great strength for our brothers and sisters facing disasters in NTB and NTT,” said Yoga.

After the fundraising action was completed, all participants gathered again at the Gunung Agung Sports Hall in Amlapura. There, they met with Karangasem Regent I Gusti Putu Parwata (Gus Par).

Gus Par also made a direct donation as a form of concern for communities in NTB and NTT affected by disasters.

Gus Par said he welcomed and appreciated the social movement and the spirit of Karangasem youth who were willing to act and show concern.

“The government certainly supports positive activities like this and hopes that what has been done can benefit communities in need,” said Gus Par.

After the action ended, all donations collected were immediately counted. In about two hours, funds amounting to Rp 21,842,500 were collected.

The funds will subsequently be distributed to help communities affected by disasters in NTB and NTT.
