Karangasem Residents Also Struggle to Get Fuel
Fuel shortages have also hit Karangasem, Bali. Several residents said they were frustrated after queuing for more than 30 minutes, only to find that fuel had run out just as their turn to fill up arrived.
They were forced to look for another petrol station and queue again on Tuesday (13 October 2026). “I’d already been queuing for more than 30 minutes, but when it was nearly my turn, they said the fuel had run out,” Nengah Bayu said at the scene.
Bayu said he had earlier visited the Abiansoan petrol station in Bebandem district. However, it had run out of fuel, so he decided to look for another station with stock.
He then went to a nearby petrol station, where a queue of vehicles stretched onto the main road. After waiting for some time, Bayu was disappointed again when he learnt that the fuel had run out before his turn.
“I heard there was fuel at the Subagan petrol station, so I’ll try there. I hope it hasn’t run out,” Bayu said.
Observations showed that several petrol stations in Karangasem had been experiencing limited fuel supplies since Monday (12 October 2026). Long queues of vehicles were visible at several locations. Some stations had also run out of stock because they had not yet received additional supplies.
The situation has prompted residents to flock to petrol stations that still have fuel. As a result, queues have grown longer and could disrupt traffic.
“Hopefully a solution will be found soon and fuel supplies will return to normal,” another resident, Ketut Sarni, said at the Subagan petrol station.
